Tips on keeping your dog seen at night

In a perfect world, we’d all be able to take our pets out for a nice walk at mid-day, but since most of us hold 8 -5 jobs, we are just in time to take our impatient Golden Retrievers in Dubai for a much needed walk, after spending the whole day indoors, just as the sun is setting. In fact, it is extremely advisable as it is, for your pet to have its daily exercise, it’s a common fact that night-time is the most dangerous time to be outside, simply due to the propensity of car accidents or other crimes, even if you are wearing the proper gear and can be seen, perhaps your dog might be even less visible.

Therefore, take the time and effort to keep your pet safe, as even a small changes could really save their life:

  • Keep your dog close – Make sure to keep your dog close to you at all times and within sight. One way of making sure he is where he should be is with a leash. Pet stores don't recommend it for owners who buy a Puppy in Dubai, especially on a too long of a leash as the puppy can easily bound away outside your line of supervision. Therefore, always use the right leash in accordance to your dog’s weight.

  • ID tags and microchips - Make sure your pet has his microchip fixed as well as an identification tag that is clearly visible that is affixed to their collars just in case, by a series of unfortunate events, you and your much loved German Shepard’s in Dubai become separated. However, be extra careful in Dubai as there are zones that are not allowed for pet's to walk around, at night and with their owners.

  • Wear bright and colorful attire to be seen – Always try to wear bright colors that would easily be seen in passing lights at night such as orange, yellow, and red, as well as your dog.

  • Bring a whistle – This great for more well-trained pups, if you have a whistle that your dog responds well to it, then bring it along. Also, be smart about your night-time walks, as certain areas may look decent during the day, doesn’t mean it will be once the sun goes down. Walk along routes that are known to be safe and free of suspicious characters and other potentially harmful night-time critters.

  • Make sure your dog can be seen at night –Make sure to ramp up your night walking protective checklist with an awesome night light for you and your dog. Try the ones of the best LED pet collars on the market that is fully rechargeable via USB. Flashlights are a good option as well.

In a nutshell, you should consider the following, and certain supplies are available at your local Pet Shop in Dubai

  • Pick the best length leash for a puppy, so that they’re safely within your field of vision.

  • Always make sure that the pet's ID tags on them before you take them out.

  • Wear bright colors at night, even if you look funny, at least your noticeable.

  • If your dog responds well to a whistle, then bring it along.

  • Use basic common sense with your choice of walking path at night.

  • Not only bring a light, but bring a Tron-like reflective fiber optic one to ensure that you’ll have optimal visibility.
