Should you buy a puppy or adult dog in Dubai

If you're thinking about getting a pet dog for the first time, you may ask yourself if you should buy an adult dog or buy a puppy in Dubai. There are plenty of good options out there when you are making addition to a new family member, you don't necessarily have to start with a puppy or a very young dog.

Here is a look at people who will not benefit from buying puppies in Dubai as opposed to an adult dog.

  • Older citizens - They are not able to care for a puppy by bending over and attending to the puppy's necessities indoors and outdoors. They will not be able to have the patience to housetrain a pup. Also, most senior citizens live in homes that are not pet friendly, so that an extra effort needs to be made on the part of the owner. Some live in homes with stairs and will need to use the stairs often with a pet, which may not be good for their overall health and limbs, especially those who have knee problems.

  • Working and busy people - Adult dogs in Dubai are already house-trained, so they are not disruptive, all they need is a nice cozy spot in the home to nap and spend the day while the owner is at work. On the other hand puppies cannot be left in the house alone for a long time, this becomes a problem for those who have to be at their jobs from 9 - 5 every day.

  • Social life style - Most people like to unwind after a hard day at work, and may not have the energy to deal with a puppy. Adult dogs are more laid back and receptacle to the owner's lifestyle. Some may want to go out in the evening and meet friends, puppies will need you at home in the evening, but adult dogs will give you the time you need to do things that you love.

  • Special needs - Those with specific special needs will find that they cannot care for a pup, therefore, in most cases a person with special needs are better off with an adult dog. On the flip side, there are certain people who will greatly benefit from a puppy rather than an adult dog,

  • Families - Families with young children are better off with a puppy than an adult dog. A puppy can easily strike up a bond with the children and they can easily be trained, for instance to use the potty and to whom they should be friendly and to whom they should not. Also with adult dogs training them the way you want is not possible, as they come already trained, so it may be tough for them to adjust and get along with children.

  • Single people - A puppy is ideal for cuddling and takes away the loneliness , stress and depression that single people often feel. A pup can show you a lot of affection and create a strong bond with the owner as opposed to an adult dog.

There are several reasons to and for getting puppies or adult dogs, but before you stop at the local Pet Store in Dubai, consider if you really want to go through the whole puppy routine or you want to settle for an adult dog.
